The Jungle Club, the leader in youth programming and helping Vero Beach families lose weight and get back in shape today announced they will provide corporate wellness programs for Vero Beach area businesses with customized programs designed to fit each individuals needs.

“Companies in a corporate wellness program have shown a 50 % reduction in job grievances, a 50% reduction in on-job accidents, and a 40% reduction in lost time,” said Katie Smith, President of The Jungle Club. “It’s a myth that only big companies see results. Our cost-benefit studies show that small businesses can and have achieved comparable results with as few as five employees actively engaged in our well managed corporate wellness programs.”

It is impossible to put a price tag on the value of good health, but to some degree it can be quantified by the toll that poor health takes on peoples work lives: lost wages, reduced productivity, time away from work and medical costs. Other consequences of illness, such as reduced functioning and decreased quality of life, are immeasurable, yet intuitively most understand their tremendous impact. Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer are associated with long term lifestyle behaviors, such as physical inactivity, poor diet, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. As these lifestyle diseases ravage the American population, the economic burden is apparent. Individuals are paying more out of pocket for medical treatment and prescriptions than ever before. Employers are feeling the effect of sky rocketing health care costs and decreased productivity due to illness. In the United States, healthcare expenditures make up the highest percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) than any other country in the world.

According to Katie, “We currently have several Vero Beach businesses that participate in our Corporate Wellness Program. Not only do these companies and individuals receive the many financial and health related benefits, but it’s all done in fun, team oriented environment.”
