Club Director: Jon Stenman
Mr. Stenman comes to the Jungle Club Volleyball Academy from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (NCAA D3) where he served first as the Assistant Volleyball Coach and then as the Interim Head Volleyball Coach while also serving as a Lecturer in their Health and Human Performance Department. During his time at Platteville, he trained and coached four All-Conference winners.
Prior to UW-Platteville, Mr. Stenman led the Dickinson State University Volleyball team in the NAIA. During his two years at the helm, Stenman had nine Academic All-Conference winners and was also an Instructor in their Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department.
From 2010-2013, Mr. Stenman led the Centenary College Ladies Volleyball program and coached the Ladies in the College's final year of NCAA Division I and as a member of The Summit League in 2010 before a drastic improvement in 2011 at 14-14. The 14 wins marked the highest single-season win total in the volleyball program’s history in the last 13 years and their first season in NCAA Division III. In 2010 and 2011, he spearheaded two squads that combined to boast 15 All-Academic All-Conference selections as the Ladies volleyball team posted a 3.4 team GPA in 2010. Nine of 11 Ladies made the All-Academic team that year.
Before joining Centenary, Stenman served as the head coach at Coker College, a Division II program, in South Carolina. Prior to becoming the head coach at Coker, Stenman came from Texas A&M University, where he was the head coach of the women's club volleyball team and physical education instructor. Stenman served as the assistant coach at Shenandoah University for four seasons before his stint at Texas A&M.
Mr. Stenman has had the opportunity to play and coach at a variety of levels during his 25 years in volleyball. A native of Rochester, New York, he was fortunate enough to play volleyball my junior and senior years. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he continued to hone his volleyball skills and even had the opportunity to play for the All-Marine team.
Mr. Stenman has a Bachelor's of Science degree from Shenandoah University and Masters of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University. Mr. Stenman has continued to educate himself in the latest training and strategic fundamentals. He is a regular attendee of the American Volleyball Coaches Association annual convention and is IMPACT certified.
